Did your home appraisal come in yet?April 21, 2022
For us taxpayers and conservatives, this time of year is brutal. It’s federal income tax season and for property owners, we’re getting our new appraisals in the mail.
Our property tax system is based on two factors: the appraised value of your property and the tax rates set by local governments. As property values go up, taxes will as well, unless we have local leaders who will lower the tax rates to offset for appraisal growth. Too often, they haven’t done so.
Skyrocketing property taxes are personal to me. I’ve been a homeowner in central Texas for over thirty years and I’ve seen my property taxes climb higher and higher. I’m the only candidate for House District 52 who can say that. So when you get your appraisal letter and pay those high property taxes, I know that feeling.
Something must be done. You can trust me to lead on property tax relief on day one. My plan is simple and most importantly, possible.
Also, I want to put a couple upcoming grassroots events on your radar. We hope to see you there!
Finally, remember to mark your calendars for the runoff election: Early Voting runs May 16-20, and Election Day is May 24.
